Viral Video of Thar Occupants Attacking Cab Ignites Debate on SUV Owner Stereotypes

The perception of SUV owners as aggressive and rude has been heightened, with a road rage case involving a group of men exemplifying this perception.

A video is trending on social media  that shows men in Thar attacking a Swift cab.  The trending video on X shows occupants of a Mahindra Thar attacking a cab that allegedly rear-ended their SUV.

The video on X shows Mahindra Thar occupants attacking the cab, kicking and punching it  and urging the driver to step out.

Rattan Dhillon shared an undated video on X, stating that Thar owners are not surprising.

Further, the cab driver refused to leave, leading the Thar occupants to lash out at him by smashing the vehicle’s windows and windshield.

A man attempted to control an unruly group, but the cab driver redirected them to their parked Mahindra Thar, surprising social media users.

Thar was parked in the middle of the road, and the cab driver reversed his car and made a swift escape from the scene.

What is noteworthy here is the aggression shown by the commentators which exemplifies the common perception that owners of large SUVs are aggressive.

The video has sparked a heated debate on the stereotypes surrounding car owners.

Two most violent creatures on the planet: Thar Owners and Noida Dog Owners,” was the comment from X user Ishwar Singh. Another person wrote, “High on booze and testosterone, low on brains and civility.”

Divided by languages but united as Thar owners. All over India, they’re behaving like this only,” another person said.

There were comments from people who were less judgemental and were not in favor of such stereotypical concepts.

“Stereotyping is bad; there’s nothing wrong with Mahindra Thar or Hyundai Creta owners. It’s all about people. Even the most sophisticated car owners have been caught behaving in a nasty manner. Bigger cars warrant bigger responsibilities, which no one realizes,” is an example of another comment.
