08 May 2024 – A new “Vote from Home” facility has been implemented in the Maval Lok Sabha constituency to accommodate voters who are over 85 years old, those with disabilities, and individuals in essential services, totaling 311 eligible voters. Deepak Singla, the Election Returning Officer, overseeing the process, confirmed that this initiative is in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India.

The program is active across several assembly areas within the Maval Lok Sabha Constituency, including Panvel, Karjat, Uran, Maval, Chinchwad, and Pimpri. Each area has a specific number of registered voters eligible for this facility: Panvel has 57 eligible voters, Karjat 73, Uran 68, Maval 25, Chinchwad 54, and Pimpri 34.

The breakdown of these voters includes 263 individuals aged over 85, 45 with physical disabilities, and 3 in emergency services. For instance, in the Karjat Assembly Constituency, there are 59 voters over the age of 85, 11 with disabilities, and 3 from emergency services. Similarly, in the Chinchwad Assembly Constituency, there are 52 voters over 85 and 2 with disabilities.

This tailored voting process facilitates the participation of those who might otherwise find it challenging to vote due to age, disability, or professional commitments, ensuring their voices are heard in the democratic process.
