Pune: Sunil Tingre, the Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Wadgaon Sheri constituency went on hunger strike against the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) due to failure to address various civic issues in his constituency. Tingre has been tirelessly following up on issues such as blocked roads, delayed road repairs, water supply problems, and traffic congestion, among others, but has yet to see any resolution.

He has expressed his frustration over the pending issues, stating that he has raised them in the Legislative Assembly) and other forums, but has not received any solutions from the administration.

One of the major issues highlighted by Tingre is the pending work of DP (Development Plan) road, which has been delayed for the past four years. He has also raised concerns about inadequate water supply, traffic congestion on Nagar road, and the delay in opening the first Rajiv Gandhi Hospital for kids in Pune.

Prashant Jagtap, president, Pune City, Nationalist Congress Party who was present at the protest said, “In 2019, after Jagdish Mulik lost the election and BJP was ruling at Pune Municipal Corporation since then the development works at Wadgaon Sheri are getting affected. And we clearly accused that BJP has not been able to digest our win. MLA Sunil Tingre, had raised the issue in Assembly and many issues had got approval but after the change in power again all the developmental work got brake.”
