Wakad corporator takes up the lead to remove illegal flex
The negligence of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation authorities over the removal of illegal flex, hoardings banners has compelled the Wakad based Corporator Mamta Vinayak Gaikwad to take up the lead in removing them.
Mamta Vinayak Gaikwad while speaking to Pune Pulse said, “I have been writing to the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation authorities for a very long time on removal of flex. But they have never acted upon the complaints promptly. Also when the action on removal of these flex is done they are removed but we have to wait for atleast six months to see the action and these flex are back on the streets the next day. In my letter to the PCMC Commissioner Rajesh Patil I have asked permission from the civic body to remove these flex from my own expense. Wakad – a smart suburb of the municipal corporation is gaining popularity as a hub for illegal ads which is defacing the area. ”
She further stated that in my letter to the PCMC I have asked them to allow us to remove the flex and help us in keeping Wakad flex free.
Illegal flex, hoardings, boards, banners are seen on Pink City Road, Kalewadi phata to Mankar Chowk, Chhatrapati Chowk to Utkarsh Chowk Road,Datta Mandir Road. “The removal of unauthorised flex and kiosk belongs to sky sign department, on which we are working from so long till now we have removed almost 45 thousand banners from electric poles, s ” said Nilesh Deshmukh, Assistant Commissioner, SkySign Department.
“PCMC is infamous for illegal hoardings and flexs, the step taken by Mamta Gaikwad is a good sign. In fact, federation is demanding for the removal of such flex from a very long time. These flexes are ruining the beauty of city, on every divider we see such pole boards, flex and banners made in plastic which are also causing environment hazard,” said Sachin Londhe, treasurer pimpri Chinchwad Housing Federation.
“It is a a good step towards making Wakad clean and flex free,” said Simran Shrivastav, Sanskriti society.
