Residents of Wanowrie relieved a sigh of relief when the news of the new Wanowrie General Hospital run by Pune Municipal Corporation was inaugurated at the hands of deputy chief minister in the month of March this year.

Ever since the inauguration, the residents are awaiting its operations which seem to be a distant dream for many.

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena President, NIBM Prabhag Rohan Gaikwad held an agitation recently demanding operations at the Wanowrie General Hospital.

Gaikwad said, “The hospital was inaugurated at the hands of deputy chief minister in the month of March since then it’s awaiting its full operations. Why this fuss about keeping the property on hold even after inaugurating it is questionable ? ”

When Pune Pulse spoke to former corporator of Wanowrie Prashant Jagtap he said, “When the inauguration of the hospital was held it was clearly stated that the property was ready for operations by the Pune Municipal Corporation. The building where the hospital has come up was acquired from the builder first which was pending. With the new set up now PMC can start with an OPD as well as a full fledged hospital. Such protests have no meaning as the operation of the hospital is now under PMC completely.”
