At 2:30 pm on Friday (22nd December), two attackers on motorbike boldly attacked Virendra Kapoor, a 61-year-old restaurant owner, in front of a restaurant on East Street in Camp. With a sharp weapon in hand, the attackers wounded Kapoor slightly before making off with his bag, which contained Rs 3 lakh.

Wanowrie resident Virendra Kapoor, who owns a restaurant in Kamshet, was admitted to Sassoon General Hospital for treatment and later released.

As per further information from the FIR accessed by Pune Pulse, on Friday, Kapoor and his friends had taken out Rs 3 lakh in rupees from the State Bank of India’s treasury branch, which was close to the district collector’s office. The group then drove in Kapoor’s SUV to a restaurant for lunch.

The accused struck just as they were leaving the restaurant. Following Kapoor’s SUV from the bank to the restaurant, the two attackers took advantage of the moment when Kapoor was approaching his car, a little bit ahead of his friends. After getting off the bike, one of the accused attacked Kapoor from behind and pushed him hard to the ground. Quickly, the pillion rider reached for the bag.

Kapoor tried to raise the alarm, but the accused made a quick escape. When Kapoor and his friends noticed one of the SUV’s back tires was deflated, they decided not to pursue the robbers.

A case has been registered against the 2 unidentified accused at Lashkar Police Station under Sections 394, 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Further investigation is going on.
