Wanowrie’s Bapusaheb Kedari swimming pool is all set to reopen soon

Bapusaheb Kedari Swimming Pool located next to Vitthalrao Shivarkar garden in Wanowrie is all set to reopen after a gap of nearly 6 months.
Late Bapusaheb Kedari Swimming Pool which remained closed for over six months is all set to reopen soon. Pune Municipal Corporation recently allotted the pool to a private entity.

The pool remained closed due to the death of a 14 year old boy in the pool during mid 2022. PMC recently got the clearance from the commissioner and funds were sanctioned to clean and restore the electrical supply which was cut off.

The new management at the swimming pool has begun cleaning and conducting repair and maintenance work at the swimming pool.


When Pune Pulse spoke to the sports cell officer of PMC, Sanjay Warule, he said that the tender was floated and private entities were called. Accordingly the contract has been awarded to the new contractor.

Giving details about the activities at the swimming pool. Kavita Sharma, Founder Trustee and Vice President of Finance and Operations at the Rashtriya Life Saving Society (India), she said, “The swimming pool should be operational by the end of January. We are working on to repair and conduct maintenance of a lot of things within the premises. The pool was closed for more than 8 months. We shall begin with training of lifeguards first as many lifeguards certficate have expired.”
