Pune Municipal Corporation to implement a GPS-based attendance system for field officers soon
Pune Municipal Corporation has announced that it will be implementing a GPS-based attendance system for all field officers in the education department.
The new system will record the number of schools visited by each field officer on a daily basis. The administration has linked biometric attendance with Aadhaar for municipal servants. So,the former will get information if the employee came to work, what the working hours are and how many schools were visited in a day.
This move is aimed at ensuring accountability and efficiency in the department, as well as improving the quality of education in Pune’s schools. The implementation of the GPS-based attendance system is expected to begin in the coming weeks. Officials from the education department will be trained on the new system to ensure a smooth transition.
Commenting on this, Sachin Ithape, Deputy Commissioner (General Administration) said “Soon GPS attendance systems will be installed in PMC. The cost of this system will be Rs 7 lakh 20 thousand and the proposal has been given to the Standing Committee for approval.
