Utilizing an intricate mechanism involving mirrors and lenses, scientists successfully illuminated the deity’s forehead with the Sun’s rays precisely at noon. This achievement comes on the heels of the consecration of the idol of Lord Ram at the Ram temple earlier this year, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Surya Tilak project aims to focus sunlight onto the forehead of the Shri Ram idol every Shri Ram Navami day in the Chaitra month. With meticulous planning and execution, scientists ensured the accuracy of the tilak, which lasts for approximately three to three-and-a-half minutes, with two minutes of full illumination.

Senior scientists from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)-Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkee, spearheaded this groundbreaking initiative. Their dedication and expertise in designing and implementing the mechanism showcase India’s scientific prowess and indigenous technological development.

The successful implementation of the Surya Tilak ceremony serves as a testament to India’s scientific acumen and technological innovation. It represents a proud moment for the scientific community and reaffirms the faith and support of the nation in their endeavors.
