In a stride towards inclusivity, Zomato has introduced embroidered kurtas as an outfit option for its female delivery partners on International Women’s Day.

This initiative aims to prioritize the comfort and choices of female delivery partners who found the standard Western-style T-shirts uncomfortable for navigating Indian roads. The new outfit not only offers flexibility, allowing partners to choose between a T-shirt and a kurta but also integrates features to enhance functionality and style, including deep pockets and intricate embroidery.

Recognizing the diverse preferences of its female workforce, Zomato’s move is part of empowering its delivery partners by providing them the freedom to choose their preferred attire.

The company has collaborated with Blinkit partners and further celebrated Women’s Day by curating self-care packages featuring skincare, beauty, and female hygiene products for its female delivery partners.

Zomato has made significant investments to ensure the safety and well-being of its delivery partners, with initiatives such as the female delivery partner onboarding program. The move aligns with broader industry efforts toward fostering inclusivity, with other e-commerce platforms like Flipkart, Swiggy, and Zomato taking steps to hire more women for night shifts and address gender-related challenges in the workforce.

While the initiative received praise for its positive impact on women’s work experiences, some users expressed skepticism about the timing, urging Zomato to address what they perceive as “graver problems” faced by women delivery partners.

One individual remarked, “Zomato, you nailed the marketing game. You touch hearts like no one else.”

Another commented, “This change is long overdue.”

Nevertheless, the move has garnered widespread attention and appreciation, marking a positive step towards inclusivity in the gig economy.
