Pay arrears or face water disconnection, PMC warns govt bodies

Pune, 6th December 2023: In response to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed at the Bombay High Court addressing the scarcity of drinking and domestic use water, and in compliance with the court’s directives, a special committee has been constituted.

This committee includes the Divisional Commissioner, Pune District, Municipal Commissioners of PMC and PCMC, Chief Engineers of the Water Supply departments of PMC and PCMC, and the Member Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority.

The inaugural meeting of this special committee is planned on 07.12.2023 at 12:00 noon in the V.C Hall at the Divisional Commissioner’s office, Council Hall, Camp, Pune, Maharashtra.

Advocate Satya Muley, representing the petitioners in the High Court, emphasized the significance of the meeting, stating, “Citizens are encouraged to bring their water tanker bills and data related to water requirements. This meeting is crucial, and representatives from all housing complexes in PMC and PCMC are urged to present their water supply- related issues.”
