Wakad corporator Rahul Kalate and Prashant Shitole thanked the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation commissioner Rajesh Patil for tendering the road from Aundh to Jagtap Dairy Chowk.

Under the Smart City, the road from Rajiv Gandhi Bridge in Aundh to Jagtap Dairy Chowk was to be constructed according to the urban street design. The work worth around Rs 40 crore was done by Smart City contractor B. G.Shirke, the ruling BJP had planned to give Shirke Construction directly. However, after the complaint, Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of Smart City Rajesh Patil has decided to launch a tender for the same. Therefore, the wrongdoing of the ruling party has come to a halt, informed Shiv Sena group leader Rahul Kalate in a press conference on Friday, February 4.

NCP city working president Prashant Shitole was present on the occasion. Kalate said that the 14 km BRTS road from Aundh to Kiwale is in good condition. Despite this, the road is being designed according to the urban street design without any demand from the citizens. Asphalting will also be done by levelling the drainage. A total expenditure of around Rs 100 crore is expected for this. When there is no need for work, the authorities have taken out work only to earn a certain percentage. Authorities plan to award the work directly to a particular contractor. And that’s why Kalate had lodged a complaint with the commissioner and demanded a hearing. Taking a note of these complaints, Ashok Bhalkar, General Manager, Smart City, on behalf of the Commissioner, has said that the tender for the Aundh to Jagtap Dairy Road will be issued without direct awarding the work. He also demanded an inquiry by the BRTS department for providing false information despite the huge expenditure incurred on the road in the last ten years.

Here, Shitole stated that this is the first time in the five years of BJP that the work has been stopped by the commissioner. By issuing tenders, the cost will be reduced by 25 to 30 percent. Prashant Shitole has advised to save on Dapodi to Nigdi route where it can be repaired without spending.
