Maharashtra | December 18: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for Maharashtra, warning that the next 24 hours remain sensitive despite a slight rise in minimum temperatures across the state. A marginal increase of 1 to 2 degrees Celsius has brought temporary relief from the intense cold, but chilly conditions are expected to continue in several regions.

Temperature Fluctuations Continue Across Maharashtra

Over the past two days, Maharashtra has witnessed fluctuations in temperatures. While minimum temperatures have risen slightly, cold conditions remain widespread. Weather experts caution that the relief may be short-lived as cold air continues to dominate the region.

Mumbai Weather Update

Mumbai city and suburban areas are expected to witness generally clear skies on December 19.

  • Maximum Temperature: Around 33°C
  • Minimum Temperature: Around 18°C

In coastal districts including Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg, minimum temperatures are likely to increase by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius, offering mild relief from the cold.

Western Maharashtra Sees Slight Warm-Up

Districts such as Pune, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, and Kolhapur will experience a slight rise in minimum temperatures, leading to reduced cold intensity.

  • Pune: Morning fog likely; minimum temperature expected to be around 10°C.

North Maharashtra Cold Eases Marginally

Cold conditions have eased slightly in Nashik, Jalgaon, Dhule, and Nandurbar districts.

  • Nashik & Jalgaon: Minimum temperature around 9°C
  • Dhule & Nandurbar: Between 9°C and 10°C

Marathwada Weather Outlook

After dipping to 8–9°C in recent days, minimum temperatures in Marathwada are expected to rise to around 11°C.
Districts including Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed, Parbhani, and Nanded will see a slight reduction in cold intensity.

Vidarbha Continues to Feel the Chill

In Nagpur, Amravati, and surrounding districts, minimum temperatures are likely to rise by up to 2°C, providing limited relief.

  • Nagpur: Minimum temperature expected to be around 12°C on December 19

However, meteorologists warn that despite this increase, cold conditions will persist across the region.

Cold Conditions to Continue

Weather officials state that although the cold wave intensity may reduce slightly over the next 2–3 days, chilly conditions will continue across Maharashtra. Citizens are advised to take necessary precautions, especially during early morning and late night hours.
