Weather Alert For January 4: Cold Wave Unlikely as Minimum Temperatures Rise Across Maharashtra, IMD Issues Update
Weather Alert Maharashtra: Cloudy Skies to Persist on January 5, Cold Wave Likely to Return as Temperatures Dip
The weather pattern across Maharashtra has shifted, with a noticeable rise in minimum temperatures over the past few days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said. While speculation of another cold wave had surfaced, the IMD clarified that minimum temperatures are expected to remain on the higher side in the coming days, though mild chill will persist during early mornings and nights.
Cloudy conditions over the last two days have contributed to the increase in minimum temperatures across several regions, including Konkan, Western Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha. In most parts of the state, minimum temperatures have now risen above 12 degrees Celsius.
On January 4, Konkan is likely to witness largely clear weather. Mumbai is expected to record a maximum temperature of around 32°C and a minimum of 18°C, with a slight nip in the air during morning and night hours.
In Western Maharashtra, the intensity of winter has eased. Pune is likely to record a maximum of 31°C and a minimum of 14°C. Persistent morning fog in the city has prompted authorities to urge motorists to remain cautious. Solapur recorded one of the highest maximum temperatures in the state at 31°C.
Marathwada will see mainly clear skies, with Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar expected to record temperatures ranging between 15°C and 29°C. Similar conditions are forecast across North Maharashtra and Vidarbha, including Nashik and Nagpur.
Despite the rise in temperatures, officials advise citizens to take precautions, as sudden weather changes may impact health. Warm clothing during early mornings and nights is still recommended.
