Maharashtra : Maharashtra is witnessing an intense spell of cold weather, with temperatures dropping sharply across several regions. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), North Maharashtra and eastern Vidarbha are experiencing more severe cold conditions, while chilly weather is expected to continue across the entire state for the next few days.

Since the beginning of December, the cold has steadily intensified across Maharashtra. Although the IMD has not officially declared a cold wave, residents are facing biting cold, especially during early morning and night hours. On December 17, Jeur recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 8 degrees Celsius, indicating a significant dip in minimum temperatures.

Weather Forecast for December 18

The IMD has predicted mainly clear skies with the possibility of fog in several parts of the state on December 18. Minimum temperatures are expected to remain low, adding to the discomfort caused by the cold spell.

Mumbai and Konkan Region:
Mumbai and its suburban areas are likely to experience clear skies. The maximum temperature may hover around 34 degrees Celsius, while the minimum could drop to 17 degrees Celsius. In the Konkan belt, a rise in daytime temperatures has been observed, with Dahanu recording a maximum of 34 degrees Celsius.

Western Maharashtra:
Cold conditions continue to prevail in western Maharashtra. Pune, one of the region’s major cities, is expected to record a maximum temperature of around 28 degrees Celsius and a minimum of nearly 9 degrees Celsius. Fog is likely to persist throughout the day in Pune, and citizens have been advised to take necessary precautions, especially while commuting.

Marathwada:
The chill remains strong in the Marathwada region as well. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar may record a maximum temperature of 30 degrees Celsius and a minimum of about 10 degrees Celsius. Clear skies are expected, and similar weather conditions are likely in other districts of the region.

North Maharashtra:
North Maharashtra is witnessing a further intensification of cold weather. In Nashik, temperatures are expected to dip below 10 degrees Celsius. On December 18, the maximum temperature may reach 29 degrees Celsius, while the minimum could settle around 10 degrees Celsius. Clear skies are forecast, and a similar drop in temperature is expected in Ahilyanagar district.

Vidarbha:
Cold conditions continue across Vidarbha, with eastern Vidarbha experiencing a sharper fall in temperatures. Nagpur is expected to record a maximum of 29 degrees Celsius and a minimum of around 10 degrees Celsius, with mostly clear skies. The mercury may drop further in districts like Gondia and Bhandara.

Advisory Issued

The IMD has reiterated that North Maharashtra and eastern Vidarbha are likely to remain colder than other regions. Cold conditions are expected to persist statewide over the next few days. Citizens have been advised to take care of their health, while farmers are urged to protect their crops from the cold. Special caution has been recommended for children and senior citizens to prevent cold-related health issues.
