Maharashtra Weather Alert: Yellow Alert for 12 Districts, Thunderstorms and Unseasonal Rain Forecast



The IMD has issued a yellow alert for unseasonal rain and thunderstorms in 12 districts of Maharashtra on March 17, while several regions will continue to experience hot and humid weather.

Maharashtra, March 16: Weather conditions across Maharashtra are expected to change as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for unseasonal rain and thunderstorms in 12 districts on March 17. While most parts of the state will continue to experience hot and humid weather, several districts in Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha may witness light to moderate rain accompanied by lightning and gusty winds.

According to the IMD forecast, overall temperatures across the state remain above normal, but isolated weather disturbances could bring thundershowers in some regions.

Konkan Region

In the Konkan region, including MumbaiThaneRaigad districtRatnagiri districtSindhudurg district, and Palghar district, the weather will remain hot and humid.
Mumbai is expected to record maximum temperatures between 32°C and 36°C and minimum temperatures between 24°C and 27°C, with high humidity making conditions feel more uncomfortable.

North Maharashtra

Districts in North Maharashtra, including NashikDhule districtJalgaon district, and Nandurbar district, are likely to experience rising temperatures.
In Nashik, the maximum temperature is expected to range between 32°C and 35°C, while the minimum may remain between 19°C and 22°C.

Marathwada Region

The Marathwada region—including Chhatrapati SambhajinagarJalna districtBeed districtLaturNandedParbhani district, and Dharashiv district—will largely experience hot and dry weather.
However, Nanded, Beed, Latur, and Dharashiv have been placed under a yellow alert for thunderstorms with rain and gusty winds. Maximum temperatures may range between 33°C and 37°C, while minimum temperatures are expected to remain between 20°C and 23°C.

Vidarbha Region

In Vidarbha, districts such as AmravatiAkolaWashim district, and Buldhana district will continue to experience warm conditions.

Meanwhile, NagpurYavatmalWardhaChandrapurGadchiroli districtBhandara, and Gondia are likely to witness unseasonal rainfall accompanied by lightning and gusty winds, prompting the IMD to issue a yellow alert.

Overall Forecast

The IMD stated that most parts of Maharashtra will continue to experience dry and hot weather on March 17, though isolated districts may receive thunderstorm activity and brief spells of rain.
