A gradual rise of 2–3 degrees Celsius in maximum temperatures has been recorded across Maharashtra, with the increase expected to continue over the next four days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of intensifying heatwave-like conditions and advised citizens to take necessary precautions against heat-related illnesses.
Hot and dry weather is expected to persist across the state on March 4, with several districts witnessing above-normal temperatures.
Konkan Region
In the Konkan belt, including Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg, maximum temperatures are expected to range between 33°C and 37°C, with some locations likely to cross 37°C. Minimum temperatures will hover between 23°C and 25°C. A yellow alert has been issued for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Raigad districts.
Western Maharashtra
Districts such as Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, and Solapur are likely to record maximum temperatures between 34°C and 38°C, with minimum temperatures between 20°C and 24°C. The region will experience dry heat, though humidity levels will be lower compared to the coastal belt.
North Maharashtra
In Nashik, Dhule, Jalgaon, and Nandurbar, maximum temperatures are expected between 35°C and 39°C, accompanied by dry winds. Minimum temperatures will remain between 20°C and 23°C.
Marathwada Region
Districts including Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Hingoli, Beed, Latur, and Nanded are likely to witness maximum temperatures between 36°C and 40°C, with minimum temperatures ranging from 21°C to 24°C. Hot and dry conditions will prevail.
Vidarbha Region
In eastern Maharashtra, including Nagpur, Amravati, Akola, Yavatmal, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli, maximum temperatures are expected to range between 37°C and 41°C. Minimum temperatures will remain between 22°C and 25°C, with a higher likelihood of heatwave impact in some pockets.
Advisory for Citizens
Authorities have urged residents to stay hydrated, avoid direct exposure to sunlight, and limit outdoor activities between 12 pm and 4 pm. Farmers, labourers, senior citizens, and tourists have been advised to exercise caution. Adequate water intake and preventive measures are essential to avoid heatstroke and dehydration.
