The India Meteorological Department has predicted unseasonal rain with thunderstorms in parts of Maharashtra on March 15. Several districts in Vidarbha, Marathwada and South Maharashtra are under a yellow alert.

Pune: Weather conditions across Maharashtra continue to fluctuate as the state experiences rising temperatures along with the possibility of unseasonal rain. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), parts of Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Central Maharashtra may receive unseasonal rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms on March 15.

Over the next 24 hours, different regions of the state are expected to experience varied weather conditions ranging from humid heat to stormy winds and rain.

In the Konkan region, including Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, and Palghar, the weather will remain hot and humid. Mumbai is expected to record a maximum temperature between 33°C and 37°C, while the minimum temperature may range between 24°C and 27°C. Due to high humidity, residents may experience increased discomfort and sultry conditions.

Meanwhile, Western Maharashtra, including Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, and Solapur, will continue to witness dry and hot weather. In Pune, the maximum temperature is expected to range between 34°C and 37°C, with minimum temperatures between 18°C and 21°C. However, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for Satara, Sangli, and Solapur, warning of thunderstorms, gusty winds, and possible unseasonal rain.

In North Maharashtra, including Nashik, Dhule, Jalgaon, and Nandurbar, temperatures are likely to rise further. Nashik is expected to record daytime temperatures between 33°C and 36°C, while night temperatures may remain between 19°C and 22°C.

The Marathwada region, covering Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed, Latur, Nanded, Parbhani, and Dharashiv, will experience hot and dry weather conditions with maximum temperatures ranging between 34°C and 38°C and minimum temperatures between 20°C and 23°C. However, Beed and Dharashiv may witness thunderstorms and unseasonal rainfall, prompting the IMD to issue a yellow alert for these districts.

In Vidarbha, districts including Nagpur, Amravati, Akola, Washim, Yavatmal, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, and Buldhana will continue to face intense heat. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for heatwave conditions in Amravati and Akola. At the same time, Chandrapur and Gadchiroli may receive thunderstorms with unseasonal rain, and both districts are also under a yellow alert.

Overall, while heatwave-like conditions will persist across Maharashtra on March 15, parts of Vidarbha, Marathwada, and South Maharashtra may experience unseasonal rain with thunderstorms. Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious and stay updated with official weather advisories.
