Weather Alert: Next 24 Hours Critical for Maharashtra as Icy Cold Conditions Return, IMD Issues Warning
Maharashtra | December 15: Even though the cold wave that gripped Maharashtra over the past four days has eased since December 14, the intensity of cold conditions continues across the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the next 24 hours remain critical, with severe cold persisting in several regions.
Jeur recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 5°C, while several other districts reported minimum temperatures hovering around 10°C. The IMD has forecast that chilly conditions will continue over the next few days, prompting residents to remain alert.
Mumbai and Konkan Region
Mumbai and its suburbs are expected to witness clear skies. The maximum temperature may touch 34°C, while the minimum temperature is likely to remain around 18°C. The Konkan region has seen a gradual rise in daytime temperatures, with some districts recording highs of 34°C.
Western Maharashtra
Cold conditions remain intense in western Maharashtra. Pune is expected to record a maximum temperature of 28°C and a minimum of 9°C, with clear skies and dry weather prevailing. Similar conditions are likely in neighbouring districts.
Marathwada
Marathwada continues to experience biting cold. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar is expected to have clear skies on December 16, with temperatures ranging between 13°C and 32°C. Other districts in the region are also likely to experience similar weather.
North Maharashtra
North Maharashtra remains one of the coldest regions. Nashik may record temperatures between 10°C and 32°C, with dry weather and clear skies. In Ahilyanagar district, the temperature has dropped to 7°C, raising health concerns, especially for vulnerable groups.
Vidarbha
Cold conditions have intensified in Vidarbha as well. Nagpur is expected to record a minimum temperature of 11°C and a maximum of 28°C. Gondia and Yavatmal districts have reported temperatures below 10°C.
Health and Agriculture Advisory
Despite the easing of the cold wave, the persistent chill may lead to health issues, particularly among children and the elderly. There is also a possibility of disease affecting tur (pigeon pea) crops. Citizens and farmers are advised to take necessary precautions and stay vigilant.
