Pune: Vivek Welankar, civic activist and president of Sajag Nagrik Manch Pune, on Tuesday criticised Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) water cut decision scheduled for Thursday, January 19.

In his press note Welankar stated that, yesterday only in the G20 summit we had presented various development works in Pune city to the foreign delegates. On the same day, the civic body had made an announcement of a water cut scheduled on Thursday. He said, “Hearty congratulations, to the our civic body for showing foreign delegates a new water cut method which can not be found in any G 20 country.’’

In his sarcastic press release he further said that, ‘‘Such water cut methods are not even seen in Mumbai. Hence I think, foreign delegates will be inspired by the creativity shown by our civic body and will implement such methods in their respective countires.

Pune municipal corporation used to cut water supply of the city once in a month for the maintenance purpose.

Welankar further questioned why there is the necessity of maintenance on every month? He demanded PMC should declare all the details of maintenance work in public so that people know about it.
