Pune: As many as 1,72,450 eco-friendly electricity consumers in West Maharashtra have opted for ‘e-mail’ and ‘SMS’ only, completely stopping the use of printed paper for electricity bills of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL). As these electricity consumers have responded to the ‘Go-Green’ scheme, they are getting annual savings of Rs 2 crore 6 lakh 94 thousand.

So far, 4,35, 902 electricity consumers in the state have participated in this scheme. The highest number i.e. 39.6 percent of consumers are from Western Maharashtra. Out of 1, 72, 450 consumers, 1, 15, 435 customers are from Pune which is the highest number in terms of a single district.

According to MSEDCL’s ‘Go-Green’ scheme, the consumers participating in the scheme are saving Rs 120 per year in electricity bills. As soon as the electricity bill is generated, it is sent by e-mail to the customers in ‘Go-Green’ through the computerized system. Along with this, electricity bill information is also being given through ‘SMS’. Hence, paying bills instantly online with prompt payment has become even easier.

A ‘Go-Green’ scheme compatible with modern lifestyles is also important for environmental protection. Even if the use of paper electricity bills is stopped, information about the current and past electricity bills as well as electricity bill payment receipts, etc is available for consumers on the MSEDCL mobile app and website http://www.mahadiscom.in for electricity consumers to opt for ‘Go-Green’ scheme. Electricity consumers participating in the ‘Go-Green’ scheme can save the monthly electricity bill received via email in a soft copy on their computer in case they need printed electricity bills.

Besides, current electricity bills along with the last 11 months’ electricity bills are available in their original form on the website. Consumers can download it at any time or print it as per their requirements.
