WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging platform owned by Meta, is reportedly introducing a suite of new features aimed at enhancing the user experience. According to WABetaInfo, these features are currently available to some beta testers and include locked chats on linked devices, status updates of up to 1 minute, autoplay animated images, exploring new channels, and hidden community group chats. Here’s all you need to know about these upcoming features:

1. Locked Chats on Linked Devices:

Users will soon be able to protect their conversations on linked devices by locking specific chats.

This feature will allow users to create a secret code to access the locked chats folder on their linked devices, ensuring added privacy and security.

2. Status Updates of Up to 1 Minute:

WhatsApp is extending the duration of videos that can be shared in status updates from 30 seconds to 1 minute.

This feature is expected to roll out to more users in the coming weeks, allowing for longer and more detailed status updates.

3. Autoplay Animated Images:

The platform is working on managing the autoplay of animated images within the app settings.

Users will have the option to disable animations for emojis, stickers, and avatars, giving them greater control over their chat experience. This feature is still under development and will be available in a future update.

4. Explore New Channels:

A new shortcut is being introduced to help users explore new channels more easily.

This feature aims to improve user engagement with content discovery by making channels more visible and accessible. It is currently available to some beta testers.

5. Hidden Community Group Chats:

WhatsApp is developing a feature that allows users to mark community group chats as hidden.

This feature will be included in a future update, providing users with more options for organizing and managing their chats.

These enhancements reflect WhatsApp’s ongoing efforts to improve functionality and user satisfaction on its platform. By introducing these new features, WhatsApp aims to offer a more secure, engaging, and customizable messaging experience for its users.
