This accident is yet another reminder of how the maintenance of roads is of utmost importance. The stretch from Palace Orchard to the Bizbay mall is an accident-prone zone but little has been done to make it safe for commuters.

The road is being used by water tankers and cement mixers without rationale making it absolutely difficult for the pedestrians and motorists to travel. The steep gradient of the roads only adds to the trouble.

Samip Rathod, a resident of Hills n Dales in Undri asked, “When will PMC give us our basic rights? They have always been giving excuses but nothing is being done.”

When Pune Pulse spoke to V G Kulkarni, head, road department, Pune Municipal Corporation, he said, “A site visit to the area shall be organised soon to resolve the issue.”

Parveen Tambe from Nibm Undri Residents Association said, “The Nibm Undri road badly need attention as it connects to Undri, Pisoli, Mohammadwadi and many other areas. The road is being very crowded by the day. It is better to ban this road for heavy vehicles.”

Samir Punjabi, a resident of NIBM road said, “The incident was horrible. There has been similar such incidents in the past too. It is high time PMC takes any action and give us better facilities.”
