While residents allege PCMC is neglecting the stadium, authorities say there are discussing the solution.
Residents of Pimple Saudagar were excited when the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation finally inaugurated the Kunjir stadium this year but the excitement faded off quite soon as the ground has not been maintained as expected. A multi-sports ground meant for children and sportsmen to play cricket, volleyball, basket ball, marathons, and a spot for fitness enthusiasts, has remained neglected by the authorities.
Bhagwan Bhosale, a Rose Icon resident said, “The washrooms are not being cleaned by the authorities. There is no one to look after the stadium. There are bottles and garbage strewn around. Why is PCMC not maintaining the place?
When Pune Pulse spoke to Shatrughan Kate, former local corporator he said, “I have a meeting scheduled with the PCMC Commissioner on this issue on November 10. I have written to them in the past too. The issue between the estate department and sports department on who is responsible for the maintenance has not been resolved.”
Vitthal Nana Kate, former local corporator of the area said, “It is a multi-sports ground meant for the public but it lacks proper security guard and maintenance workers who can keep it clean and maintain it too. I have raised this issue with the PCMC commissioner this week.”
Vilas Desale, estate department, PCMC remained unavailable for any comment on the issue.
