Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar has accused the ruling BJP of failing to provide the necessary infrastructure for businesses, leading to the departure of 30 to 35 companies from the Hinjewadi IT Park. He expressed concerns about the current state of Pimpri-Chinchwad, citing issues with water, electricity, traffic congestion, and basic infrastructure that have not been addressed in recent years.

Pawar shared these views while campaigning for Maha Vikas Aghadi candidate Rahul Kalate in the Chinchwad constituency at a rally in Walhekarwadi. Former MP Nana Navale, Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction) leaders Sanjog Waghere, Tushar Kamthe, Kailas Kadam, and Navnath Jagtap, Mayur Kalate were also present.

Highlighting Maharashtra’s previous position as a leading state in the country, Pawar stated, “Once, Maharashtra was ranked first, but power is now concentrated in the hands of a few, resulting in a deteriorating situation over the past decade. Years ago, people used to visit Pimpri-Chinchwad to witness its development. Now, the scenario has changed.”

He further added, “We expanded industries, established IT parks, and created jobs for thousands. However, today, the city is in decline. Due to the lack of proper work on water supply, power, traffic, and infrastructure, many companies have left Hinjewadi, affecting thousands of jobs. This situation is unacceptable and needs to be corrected. Those in power for the past decade did not utilize their authority to solve public issues, which has led to this decline. To change this state, we need a shift in governance.”
