Pune, 21 April 2025 – A horrifying case of road rage turned violent late on the night of April 18 when a couple was brutally attacked by a group of six men near Pashan Circle. The husband was left with serious injuries and admitted to the ICU, while the wife suffered internal injuries and trauma. The shocking incident has sparked public outrage and renewed concerns over safety on city roads.

According to a complaint filed at the Chaturshringi police station, the victims Ketaki Bhujbal and her husband Amaldev PVK Raman were returning home from Mukund Nagar around 11 PM after dinner with friends. While passing through the Pashan Circle area, their car was repeatedly blocked by two men on an Activa scooter, allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

“When my husband honked, the rider got aggressive, began banging on our car window, and blocked our path for nearly 20 meters,” Ketaki stated in an Instagram post that has since gone viral. “When we stopped to speak with him, he started attacking my husband.”

The situation escalated quickly when four more individuals appeared at the scene. Together, the group assaulted Amaldev with stones and sticks, while two of the attackers restrained him. When Ketaki attempted to intervene, she was kicked in the stomach and struck on the face.

The assailants also damaged the couple’s vehicle, smashing its windows and headlights with large stones. One of the stones was reportedly thrown into the car, injuring both occupants.

“We somehow escaped, but Amal was bleeding heavily. His nose was fractured, and his ear injured. I have a swollen abdomen, as confirmed by my sonography report,” Ketaki added.

The couple rushed to her brother’s residence, who then took them to the police station and later to Sai Shree Hospital in Aundh, where Amaldev was admitted to the ICU.

Disturbingly, bystanders at the scene were seen recording the incident but failed to intervene. “People just watched and made videos. No one came to help. That’s what hurts the most,” said Ketaki.

The police have registered an FIR under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including 118(1), 126(2), 115(2), 352, 324(4), and 3(5), along with relevant sections of the Maharashtra Police Act.

Ketaki, a lifelong resident of the area, said she is deeply shaken by the experience. “I was known as a confident, outspoken girl. Now, I am scared to even step out. I check the doors a hundred times a day. This has left me deeply traumatised.”

The police investigation is ongoing, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the accused.
