Shocking accident during test drive in Pachpakhadi area leaves three occupants safe despite severe vehicle damage.

A dramatic accident involving a newly launched Tata Sierra SUV took place in Thane, where a woman lost control of the vehicle during a test drive and the car plunged into a deep construction pit. Despite the frightening incident, all occupants inside the vehicle escaped safely.

According to reports, the incident occurred in the Pachpakhadi area of Thane, where the Tata Sierra had recently arrived at a showroom and customers had begun lining up to test drive the new model. A woman had visited the showroom to experience the vehicle and began driving the SUV accompanied by a showroom employee and a relative.

After leaving the showroom, the car travelled a short distance before reaching an area behind Utsav Hotel. At that moment, the driver reportedly lost control of the SUV. The vehicle first hit a tea stall, an autorickshaw and a two-wheeler parked on the road, causing significant damage.

Following the collision, the SUV continued moving forward and entered a construction site where foundation work was underway. The vehicle then fell directly into a pit estimated to be around 30 to 35 feet deep, creating panic among nearby residents and workers.

Local people rushed to the spot immediately after the crash and helped the occupants. At the time of the accident, three people were inside the vehicle — the woman driving the car, her relative and a showroom employee. Fortunately, all three managed to come out safely despite the SUV’s heavy fall.

However, the impact caused major damage to the Tata Sierra. The front portion of the vehicle was badly smashed, while the roof and sides also suffered severe structural damage. The autorickshaw involved in the collision was also badly damaged, and the front section of the vehicle was crushed.

Police and emergency teams reached the spot soon after receiving information about the accident. Officials from the Naupada Police station and the Thane Disaster Management Cell began operations to safely remove the damaged SUV from the pit.

Although the accident looked extremely serious, authorities confirmed that there were no casualties. The occupants were taken to Kausalya Hospital for precautionary medical examination, while police began further investigation into how the driver lost control of the vehicle during the test drive.

The incident has drawn attention locally because the Tata Sierra, a legendary SUV nameplate revived by Tata Motors, had only recently begun reaching showrooms and attracting strong interest from buyers.
