Woman’s Private Videos Leaked by Mobile Repair Shop; Faces Online Harassment and Family Backlash

A young woman in Kolkata says her life has been shattered after her private videos were allegedly leaked by staff at a mobile phone repair shop. What began as a routine repair has turned into relentless harassment, family estrangement, and complete social isolation, according to the woman’s account on social media.

She shared her ordeal while seeking anonymity, describing how the betrayal of trust has left her mentally broken.

Alleged leak and harassment

The woman claimed she had taken her phone to a local repair shop for technical assistance. Instead of fixing the issue, she alleged, the staff accessed her private videos and circulated them without her consent.

Since then, she said she has been receiving thousands of harassing messages. The scale of the abuse forced her to delete her social media accounts, change her phone number, and cut off communication with the outside world.

Writing under the Reddit username Prior_Jackfruit4428, she said: “I am completely broken right now… since then my parents have stopped talking to me… I deleted all my social media accounts, changed my phone number, and completely cut myself off from everyone.”

The harassment has reportedly been so severe that the woman has stopped leaving her room and abandoned the use of her mobile phone entirely. In her post, she wrote, “I don’t go out of my room anymore, avoid people, and have stopped using my phone… I feel like my whole life has collapsed, and I don’t know how I’ll ever recover from this.”

Adding to her distress, she said her parents have ceased communication with her since the incident, leaving her without family support while dealing with the violation of her privacy.

She described feeling as though her “trust, privacy, and reputation have been destroyed” and asked if others had gone through similar situations.

Police complaint filed

The woman has filed a complaint with Cyber Police regarding the alleged leak. She also posted a screenshot showing an update from the authorities. According to her post, Cyber Police confirmed that the case had been forwarded to Mahila Thana on August 25, 2025. The message also said she could contact them directly for further information on the progress of the case.

A case of betrayal and broken trust

The woman’s account highlights the risks of privacy breaches when handing over personal devices for repair. For her, what should have been a routine service turned into a catastrophic violation.

As of now, she remains isolated, trying to cope with the fallout while waiting for the police investigation to move forward.
