The founder of Infosys, NR Narayana Murthy, gave his four-month-old grandson, Ekagrah Rohan Murthy, shares worth ₹240 crore. This effectively makes the baby the youngest millionaire in India.

According to a filing with the BSE, Young Ekagrah currently owns 15,00,000 shares, or 0.04 per cent, in the second-largest information technology services company in India.

Murthy’s personal ownership of Infosys has dropped from 0.40 per cent to 0.36 per cent as a result of this deal, or more than 1.51 crore shares. The filing also stated that the share transfer was done ‘off-market’.

In November 2023, Rohan Murthy and his spouse Aparna Krishnan announced the birth of their son, who is the son of Sudha Murty and Narayana Murthy. In Sanskrit, the baby, Ekagrah, represents steadfast focus and resolve.

The Murty family, who also has two granddaughters born to their daughter Akshata Murty and son-in-law Rishi Sunak, now has three grandchildren total with this addition.

On March 14, a few days after being nominated to the Upper House of Parliament, Sudha Murty took the oath of office in Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar’s chamber.

Following her oath of office as a Rajya Sabha member, Murty stated that she wished to learn more about the subjects she intended to bring up in the Upper House of Parliament. Upon being asked if being a member of the Parliament presents a challenge or an accomplishment for her, Sudha Murty said that she is happy. Allow it to arrive and begin. She doesn’t make a lot of assumptions.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced Sudha Murty’s nomination and recognized her contributions to the fields of social work, philanthropy, and education.

Twelve members of the Upper House of the Parliament are chosen by the President of India based on their accomplishments in the social sciences, humanities, literature, and arts.
