Zarine Khan (Zarine Katrak), wife of veteran actor-producer Sanjay Khan and mother of Zayed Khan, Sussanne Khan, Simone Arora, and Farah Khan Ali, passed away on 7 November 2025 following a cardiac arrest at the age of 81.
Her final rites were performed according to Hindu customs, which drew widespread attention. Born into a Hindu family as Zarine Katrak, she never converted after marrying Sanjay Khan. Honouring her long-held wish, her children ensured her last journey followed Hindu rituals, not Muslim traditions.
Zayed Khan grew visibly emotional during the ceremony, breaking down as he performed the final rites. Several family members and close friends from the film industry were present to offer condolences. Videos from the procession surfaced online, reflecting the grief shared by those who knew her closely.
Zarine met Sanjay Khan when she was just 14, and the two married in 1966. They went on to raise four children who are well-known in creative and entertainment circles.
Before marriage, Zarine enjoyed a successful career as a model and appeared in films including Tere Ghar Ke Saamne and Ek Phool Do Maali. She later moved away from acting and established herself in the field of interior design.
Her passing marks a profound loss for the Khan family, with many remembering her elegance, strength, and the legacy she leaves behind.
