10 Railway Stations Under Pune Division Get "Eat Right" Certification By FSSAI
Ten railway stations in the Pune division have been certified as “Eat Right Stations” by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), ensuring that all food business operators at these stations meet the highest food safety standards. The certified stations include Pune, Kolhapur, Miraj, Sangli, Satara, Daund, Ahilyanagar, Kopargaon, Sainagar-Shirdi, and Shivajinagar railway stations.
The certification is a result of rigorous training and auditing of food handlers and vendors operating at the designated stations. They underwent training under FSSAI’s Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC) programme, followed by a third-party audit based on a checklist of food safety criteria. This initiative is part of FSSAI’s Eat Right India movement, which aims to promote food safety and hygiene across food outlets at railway stations.
Suresh Annapure, Joint Commissioner, Food and Drugs Administration (Food) Pune division said while speaking to the media that, “This certification ensures passengers and staff have access to safe and hygienic food options.” The initiative was undertaken under the leadership of FDA Commissioner of Maharashtra, Rajesh Narvekar.
The Eat Right Station certification is a significant step towards ensuring that passengers have a healthy and secure dining experience while traveling. With this certification, the Pune division has set a high standard for food safety and quality.
The certified railway stations will continue to undergo regular audits to maintain their certification, ensuring sustained compliance with food safety standards. This move is expected to boost passenger confidence in the food options available at these stations, promoting a healthier and safer travel experience.
