A recent bomb threat targeting an Air Canada flight departing from Delhi Airport was revealed to be a hoax perpetrated by a 13-year-old child. The incident occurred on June 4 when authorities received an email warning of a bomb on board the aircraft. Following an extensive investigation, law enforcement traced the source of the email to Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut, leading to the apprehension of the minor responsible.

The Delhi International Airport Limited office received a threatening email regarding an Air Canada flight purportedly carrying a bomb.

Investigation revealed that the email was sent by a 13-year-old child as a prank to test authorities’ ability to track him.

The minor confessed during interrogation and has been placed in the custody of his parents by the Juvenile Justice Board.

The email ID used for the threat was created shortly before sending the message, indicating premeditation.

Despite the disruption caused by the hoax, security checks found nothing suspicious aboard the flight, which was ultimately cancelled.

The child cited media reports of a similar hoax bomb threat at Mumbai airport as inspiration for his actions.

The incident underscores the need for vigilance in addressing security threats, even those originating from individuals engaging in reckless pranks. While no actual danger was posed, such actions can disrupt operations and cause unnecessary panic. Authorities continue to emphasize the seriousness of such offences and the consequences they entail, particularly for juveniles involved in criminal behaviour.
