Twenty cell-on-wheel (CoW) mobile towers will be installed by the Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) in order to enhance the mobile network in the cantonment’s military zones.

Due to inadequate cellphone networks, residents, active army officers, and their families currently experience problems in these areas. A mobile cell tower is called a CoW. It consists of a battery, transceiver device, cellular antenna, and other electronic components that work together to create a reliable mobile wireless network within a specific area. Trucks and trailers are among the vehicles on which the equipment is mounted.

A plan to install cell-on-wheel towers has been approved by the Local Military Authority (LMA) of Dakshin Maharashtra and Goa Sub Area.

According to a top PCB official, during the course of the next two weeks, these towers will be installed at Wanowrie, Command Hospital, and other locations that the LMA has identified. There has been interest in the project from two private parties. These mobile websites will be run by Pune Circle’s Defence Estates Office.

According to a senior official, Pune Camp’s inadequate mobile network has long been a problem. The network gets better for a few months after new towers are installed, but this improvement is short-lived. As a result, the relevant authorities—including the LMA—should periodically assess how it is operating.
