Ten ‘hotspots’ have been identified on an experimental basis to solve traffic congestion in Pune city. The number of traffic wardens will be increased from two hundred to seven hundred. 

Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar explained that an ‘Action Plan’ will be prepared with the help of Pune Municipal Corporation and related authorities to relieve Pune residents from traffic jams.

Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar said that in the city, priority is being given to remove traffic congestions. In the first phase, Acharya Anand Rishiji Chowk area in front of Savitribai Phule Pune University, Shimla Office on Ganeshkhind Road, Wagholi have been taken. The barricades installed by the Metro should be removed immediately after the work is over, and instructions have been given to fill the potholes. At present, the number of traffic wardens is around two hundred to ensure smooth traffic. The number will be seven hundred.

Peak hour relief on Wagholi and Ganeshkhind roads as buses, dumpers transporting gravel and heavy vehicles are prohibited. For this, the time is fixed from 9 am to 12 pm and 5 pm to 8.30 pm. A decision will be taken soon regarding the traffic timings of heavy vehicles on other roads.

Accidents are happening due to dangerous traffic jams in Pune city. It is becoming inconvenient for drivers, patients, and senior citizens. A review of the deadlocks in the city is being done. Amitesh Kumar explained that a discussion will be held with the municipal administration regarding the removal of dangerous traffic jams on some roads on an experimental basis.
