21 year Old Trainee Pilot From Jaisalmer Donates Organs, Saves Five Lives In Pune
Pune, December 19: In a remarkable act of generosity, the Zonal Transplant Coordination Center (ZTCC) Pune marked its 67th deceased organ donation of 2024, bringing new hope to five individuals, including a pediatric recipient.
The donor was a 21-year-old woman from Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Tragically, she met with a fatal accident at Bhigwan while training to fly a plane. Admitted to Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune, she was declared brain dead. Despite their grief, her family, including her parents and brother, made the selfless decision to donate her organs, ensuring her legacy lives on. The accident took place on December 9. She was undergoing treatment at the hospital for the last 9 days but lost her life.
ZTCC Pune coordinated the allocation of organs in adherence to standard guidelines. Ruby Hall Clinic received the heart, liver, and one kidney, while Dr. D.Y. Patil Medical College in Pune was allocated a kidney-pancreas combination. All five recipients are reported to be stable and recovering. All the transplants took place yesterday, informed Aarti Gokhale, Zonal coordinator, ZTCC.
This donation underscores the life-changing impact of organ donation, transforming a moment of personal tragedy into a beacon of hope for others.
