The much-awaited Mumbai Trans Harbor Link project i.e. Atal Setu had been opened to the general public some days ago after inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday (12th January). 

This sea route has made the journey of Mumbaikars comfortable. Lakhs of vehicles travelled on the bridge in the first two days. However, many people are stopping their vehicles and crowding to see this sea bridge. After receiving complaints in this regard, the police have started taking action.

The Mumbai traffic police has taken action against 264 such commuters who stopped their vehicles for no reason on ‘Atal Setu’ and took selfies. The police have collected fines of thousands of rupees from them. At the same time, the police also taken action against those who violated the traffic rules.

This action was taken under Section 122 and 177 of the Motor Vehicle Act. The motorists have been fined Rs 500 each. At the same time, the Mumbai Police have appealed to the motorists not to endanger their lives and the lives of others by stopping their vehicles unnecessarily on ‘Atal Setu’.

Mumbai Police is responsible for the traffic regulation till 10 km 400 m of Atal Setu. Navi Mumbai Police is responsible for the rest of the area. On Sunday, the police requested drivers on the bridge not to stop. Even after that many people were stopping their vehicles.
