Pune: Fire Brigade officials have reported 27 fire-related incidents during the celebration of Laxmi Pooja between 7:38 p.m. and 3.15 a.m on Sunday. No casualties were reported in these fire incidents.

Despite repeated appeals from local authorities to refrain from bursting firecrackers due to their negative impact on the environment and health, a significant number of high-decibel firecrackers were still heard throughout the city. Also, crackers led to heavy smoke in the air resulting into smog making it difficult for many people suffering with lung related issues.

Several locations reported fire incidents, including Rasta Peth near KEM hospital, Sutar Hospital in Kothrud, Wadarwadi, Pandav Nagar police chowki, Kondhwa Budruk Police Chowki, Nana Peth, Ghorpadi Peth, Shivneri Nagar in Kondhwa, Aditya Garden Society, Warje, Shukrawar Peth, Keshav Nagar Mundhwa, Ambegaon Pathar, Guruwar Peth, Raskar Chowk in Hadapsar, and Khadi Machine Chowk in Pisoli.

In Blue Sky Society, a fire incident occurred in one of the flats. The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) fire brigade promptly responded to the situation and successfully extinguished the fire. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported.

Additionally, another fire incident occurred at an old wada near the Shukrawar Peth police chowki, where a firecracker caused the fire to engulf the wooden structure. Thankfully, there were no individuals present inside the wada at the time.

According to the received information, a fire was reported on the balcony in Rasta Peth, as well as garbage at Ambedkar Chowk Aundh and Tapkir Galli, after 12 O’clock.
