Pune: Pune citizens prefer online methods to pay property tax as almost 5 lakh Pune people have paid their property taxes online.

As per information, 7,63,084 property holders of the city have paid property tax of Rs 1,296 crore till August 2. Out of them, 4,97,985 people have paid property tax online. Therefore, 65 percent of property holders have preferred to pay income tax online.

It is worthy to note that the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) had given a five to ten per cent discount on the payment of residential property tax during the period from April 1 to May 31. Those whose property tax is less than Rs 25,000 are given a 10 per cent discount on property tax, while those whose property tax is more than Rs 25,000 are given a 5 per cent exemption.

The period from May 15 to July 31 this year was fixed for property tax relief. However, due to the server being down on July 31, citizens could not pay property tax. Therefore, by extending the deadline for this discount by two days, the payment was allowed till noon on August 2.

Hence, the property holders have taken a huge advantage of it as almost 65 per cent of the total property holders in Pune have preferred online methods to pay property tax.
