50 lakh flowers adorn Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Mandir today

Pune : Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Public Ganpati Trust and Suvarnayug Tarun Mandal have organized Mogra festival in Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati Temple. On this occasion, the temple is decorated with 50 lakh fragrant flowers of different varieties including Mogra, Rose, Lily, Chafa, and Marigold.

The silver idol of Ganesha was coated with Ooty (sandalwoodpaste), and it was dressed in various floral ornaments including Shundabhushan, Kanwale, Mukut, and Angarkha. As many as 250 women and 70 men artisans had prepared the flower decoration for three consecutive days.

Manik Chavan, president of the trust, said that farmers work hard in the fields and grow flowers throughout the year, and today the same flowers were offered at the feet of Bappa in the temple. A prayer was also offered to let Baliraja rest in peace.

Many types of flowers including 700 kg Mogra, 30 thousand Chafa, 26 thousand Gulab, 90 kg Kanher, 300 kg Marigold, Jai, Jui, Lotus, 500 kg Gulchhadi, Pasli, Lily were used in this year’s floral decoration. Devotees thronged to see the beautiful form of Ganaraya and capture the scene on their mobile phones.

The event was also accompanied by the bhajan of Vasantik Ooty performed by Bharatiya Warkari Mandal during Mogra Mahotsav.

The grand offering of flowers to the beloved Ganapati Bappa was a beautiful sight that the people of Pune got to experience. The smell of around 5 million fragrant flowers wafted around the temple premises, adding to the festive ambiance.
