5400 Pune Residents Participate In PMC’s Plogathon Drive Held At 37 Locations

Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) got an overwhelming response for its citywide Plogathon Drive when around 5,400 Punekars from 37 locations under 15 PMC ward offices participated in this drive.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Asha Raut, Chief of Solid Waste Management Department, PMC said, “We have organized this unique citywide drive to spread the message of cleanliness. Today, the problem of littering is prevalent in all parts of the city. We are very happy to see such a huge and positive response from 5000+ Punekars. We hope that more and more people will understand the importance of cleanliness and will keep the city clean and tidy.”

The Plogathon Drive was organized on June 17, 2023 from 7 am to 9 am on all main roads, railways, schools and riverside locations in Pune.

As per information, the locations where the drive was conducted were Panchaleshwar Temple Area, Bhide Pool River Basin Area, SM Joshi Pool Warje and Magarpatta Chowk to Gadital Chowk Hadapsar, Shastri Nagar, Aga Khan Palace to Ramwadi Police Chowki, Inner area between Aga Khan Palace, Golf Club Chowk to Ambedkar Chowk to Thackeray Chowk to Shadal Baba Chowk, Mata Ramai Ambedkar Statue to RTO Chowk, Sutarwadi Arogya Kothi under Pashan Sus Road, Shivshakti Chowk to Raj Jijamata Chowk Suskhind, Karve Putala to Vandevi Chowk Right Side, Tin Hatti Chowk to Dattanagar subway, Chuna Bhatti (back side of PL Deshpande Udyan) to Sinhagad Road to Zonal Office Canal Road, S M Joshi Bridge to Rajput Veetbhatti Riverbed, Constituent Chowk to Mahatma Phule Cultural Bhavan, Khadi Machine Chowk to Somaji Chowk, Lokmanya Nagar Jogging Park, Dulya Maruti Chowk to Belbagh Chowk and Pushpamangal Office to Mahesh Society.

A total of 2867 kg of wet waste and 8967 kg of dry waste were collected in this drive.
