6 injured as lawyer crashes SUV into Kachori joint in Delhi
A weekend treat turned into chaos at Fateh Kachori in Delhi’s Kashmiri Gate area as a speeding Mercedes SUV crashed into the bustling eatery, injuring six people. CCTV footage from inside the establishment captured the harrowing incident, which occurred around 3 pm on Sunday.
The video initially shows patrons going about their business before suddenly turning their attention in one direction. Without warning, the SUV bursts into the shop, causing chaos as tables and people are thrown about, ultimately colliding with a wall.
As the shock wears off and the SUV retreats, patrons frantically search for their loved ones amidst the debris. One man, visibly distraught, searches for his wife, eventually finding her unharmed. Others, including a man who sustained a severe leg injury, manage to get back on their feet with the help of fellow customers.
The driver, identified as 36-year-old lawyer Parag Maini, was apprehended at the scene. Maini, a resident of Noida, was accompanied by his wife during the accident. While preliminary tests showed no signs of intoxication, further investigation is underway.
The injured have been hospitalized, and police continue to probe the incident.
