Police leaves cancelled ahead of Maharashtra Assembly Elections

With the upcoming Assembly elections, all police officers and personnel in the state will be on security duty. As per the orders issued by the Director General of Police (DGP) office, no leaves or holidays will be granted to the police force from November 15 to 25.
The voting for 288 Assembly constituencies in the state will take place on November 20. From October 22, the nomination process will begin, during which police will also be deployed. Campaign rallies and meetings will be held from November 5 to 18. The election results will be announced on November 23. To ensure smooth conduct of elections, strict security will be maintained in every constituency.
In addition to the state police, Home Guards and personnel from the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) will also assist in maintaining law and order.
Around 1.5 lakh police officers, 47,000 Home Guards, and SRPF units will be deployed across various locations. Extra security will be arranged at sensitive polling stations, with some newly recruited police officers also being assigned election duties. This is being planned by district superintendents and police commissioners.
As per the DGP’s orders, all police officers and staff have had their leaves and holidays canceled from November 15 to 25, due to election duties.
Meanwhile, teachers assigned to election duty will undergo district-wise training. The second phase of training will be held 10 to 12 days before the polls. Teachers, who have Diwali holidays from October 28 to November 10, will be required to attend training on weekends and once again before November 10, affecting their holidays.
