Vidhan Sabha Polls 2024: Establishments Denying Voting Leave To Face ActionÂ

Local Body Elections: Supreme Court Approves New Ward Structure and 27% OBC Quota in Maharashtra
Pune, November 14, 2024: The state government has ordered that on November 20, 2024, the day of the General Assembly Elections, all establishments under the Industries, Energy, and Labor Department must provide paid leave to all officers, employees, and workers so they can cast their votes. Assistant Labor Commissioner Shailesh Pol announced that any establishment failing to provide leave or allowance on voting day, preventing employees from voting, will face appropriate action.
In exceptional cases where a full day off cannot be provided, establishments may grant a two-to-three-hour paid voting allowance for workers in the polling area, with prior approval from the district collector or election officer. However, establishments must ensure that, in all circumstances, voters are granted at least two to three hours of paid leave to exercise their voting rights.
According to the department’s circular, even employees who must travel outside their voting constituencies for work should be granted paid leave to vote. This applies to all establishments, including factories, shops, private companies, hotels, food outlets, theaters, and IT companies. All establishments must strictly adhere to these guidelines.
If any employee in the district does not receive the leave or allowance needed to vote on election day, they may lodge complaints with Pune Division Assistant Labor Commissioner Mr. N. A. Walke (mobile: 9975933416), Ms. T. S. Attar (mobile: 9890424813), Mr. D. D. Pawar (mobile: 7775963065), Shops Inspector Mr. B. V. Lande (mobile: 9921971163), Mr. Rajendra Tathe (mobile: 9420763111), or by emailing [email protected] and [email protected] as per the press release from Mr. Pol.
