Actors often go to great lengths for their roles. South Indian star Nayanthara is one such example. She quit eating non-vegetarian food to play Sita in the 2011 Telugu movie *Sri Rama Rajyam*. This decision marked a turning point in her life and career.

When the film was announced, Nayanthara faced severe backlash from the Tamil and Telugu film industries. Her personal life was under the spotlight, with rumors about her relationship with Prabhu Deva and a recent breakup with actor Silambarasan TR. Many criticized her for accepting the role of Sita amidst such controversies.

Determined to prove herself, Nayanthara took her preparation seriously. She stayed at the Taj Krishna Hotel during the shoot and refrained from drinking the hotel’s water or eating non-vegetarian food. She shared in her documentary *Beyond the Fairytale* that she considered this a form of penance. Vegetarian food was specially ordered for her from outside, and she remained committed to her choices throughout the film’s production.

Her portrayal of Sita silenced critics, earning her praise and admiration. However, the challenges didn’t end there. Nayanthara reportedly contemplated leaving the film industry altogether due to the intense criticism she faced.

Known as the “Lady Don” of the South Indian film industry, Nayanthara has since become a household name. She made her Bollywood debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in *Jawan* and is now a mother to twin boys.

Nayanthara’s dedication to her craft and resilience during tough times remains an inspiring story in Indian cinema.
