Pune: BJP’s Siddharth Shirole Clinches Victory in Shivajinagar, Defeats Congress' Datta Bahirat
BJP MLA Siddharth Shirole has retained the Shivajinagar seat, defeating Congress candidate Datta Bahirat and independent candidate Manish Anand. Shirole secured a comfortable victory with a margin of nearly 36,000 votes.
From the start of the counting process, Shirole maintained a steady lead. Political experts had predicted his win, though they expected a closer contest due to Manish Anand’s entry. Anand, a Congress rebel, split the party’s votes, which worked in Shirole’s favor.
Shivaji Nagar constituency saw enthusiastic campaigning by all candidates. Shirole’s strong bond with BJP workers and his ability to connect with voters played a key role in his success. His consistent engagement on local issues and outreach efforts strengthened his position further.
The constituency had 2.89 lakh registered voters, but a low turnout of 50.90% helped Shirole consolidate his loyal voter base.
This marks Shirole’s consecutive victory from Shivajinagar, reinforcing BJP’s hold on the seat. Despite the presence of a Congress rebel, the party could not pose a serious challenge.
Shirole’s win reflects his ability to navigate local dynamics effectively while benefiting from his party’s strong organizational network. His focus on development and grassroots-level activism resonated with voters, ensuring his re-election.
The results underline the importance of party unity and voter engagement, as Congress’s divided front ultimately led to Shirole’s decisive win.
