Maha Shivaratri is a highly significant festival for devotees of Lord Shiva, and this year, it will be celebrated on February 26. On this day, millions of followers come together to seek blessings from Shiva. Among the numerous temples dedicated to him in India, the Trimbakeshwar Mahadev Temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, attracts thousands of devotees each year for darshan.

In preparation for Maha Shivaratri, the Trimbakeshwar Devasthan Trust has made some important announcements. The temple will remain open for 24 hours over two days, starting from 4 AM on the 26th until 9 PM on the 27th. Due to the large number of expected visitors, all VIP and inner sanctum darshan will be suspended, and donation darshan will also be closed throughout the day on the 26th. This is great news for those planning to visit Trimbakeshwar for darshan during this auspicious occasion.

In preparation for Maha Shivaratri, the Trimbakeshwar Devasthan Trust is planning to beautifully illuminate the temple with electric lights. The sanctum, assembly hall, and main entrances from the north and east will be decorated with flowers. To mark the occasion, the trust has organized three days of cultural events. On Monday (the 24th), there will be a mehndi ceremony, followed by a haldi ceremony on Tuesday (the 25th).

On Wednesday (the 26th) afternoon, the palanquin carrying Lord Trimbakraj will leave the temple. Following the traditional route, a puja will be conducted at Tirtharaj Kushavart, and in the evening, the palanquin will return to the Devasthan via the customary path. During the procession, the Shiv Tandav group will perform an Aghor dance. In the evening, the Natrang Academy from Pune will present a dance program titled “Shivarpanmasthu,” featuring actress Prajakta Mali and her fellow artists.

The trust has also announced that on Wednesday (the 26th), a Laghu Rudra Abhishek will be held at the Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga in the evening. A special Mahapuja and palanquin ceremony will take place later that night, as stated by the Chairman of the Devasthan Trust.
