Latur Municipal Commissioner Attempts Suicide by Shooting Himself
Latur Crime News: In a shocking turn of events, Latur Municipal Corporation Commissioner Babasaheb Manohare attempted suicide by shooting himself at his residence late last night. Fortunately, he survived the incident and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Latur. His condition is reported to be stable, according to hospital authorities.
Manohare, who previously served as the Additional Commissioner of Latur Municipal Corporation before being promoted to Commissioner, allegedly shot himself in the head using a pistol. The bullet reportedly passed through the right side of his skull, causing significant bleeding. Family members, who heard the gunshot, rushed to his room and immediately took him to Sahyadri Hospital for emergency medical attention.
Hospital Director Dr. Hanumant Kinikar confirmed that an urgent surgery was performed and Manohare is now responding well to treatment. The motive behind the suicide attempt remains unclear. As per sources, Manohare had dinner with his family and appeared normal before retiring to his room, where the incident occurred shortly after.
The news has sent shockwaves across the city and the administrative circles. Following the incident, senior officials from the municipal corporation and the police, including Latur Superintendent of Police Somay Munde, arrived at the hospital and the commissioner’s residence for investigation.
BJP leader Dr. Archana Patil Chakurkar, former mayor Vikrant Gojamgunde, and several former corporators also visited the hospital to inquire about Manohare’s health.
Babasaheb Manohare has served in key administrative roles across Dharashiv, Nanded, and Latur districts, including a tenure as Additional Commissioner in Nanded. Known for his straightforward and outspoken nature, his drastic step has left many stunned and concerned.
Police have launched a detailed investigation to determine the reasons behind the suicide attempt and whether any personal or professional stress contributed to the incident.
