Boisar Tragedy: 70-Year-Old Woman Run Over by Doctor’s Car Inside Hospital Premises

In a tragic incident, a 70-year-old woman lost her life after being run over by a car inside the premises of TAPS Hospital in Boisar, located in Maharashtra’s Palghar district.

The victim, Chayalata Arekar, had gone to the hospital with her husband, Vishwanath Arekar, for his treatment. The incident took place around the main entrance of the hospital on the morning of April 9.

According to CCTV footage, the elderly woman was exiting through the hospital’s main gate. As she was crossing the road, a red Maruti Estilo appeared near the gate. The car took a sharp turn and hit the woman. The vehicle then ran over and dragged her for a short distance.

Chayalata Arekar suffered serious injuries and died on the spot. The entire incident was captured on CCTV, which clearly shows the sequence of events.

The car involved in the accident was being driven by a doctor from the hospital. The doctor identified as Dr A K Das allegedly lost control of the vehicle. He has since been arrested by the Tarapur police. Authorities have confirmed that an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

The accident has shocked the local community, raising concerns about safety and traffic control within hospital premises. Family members of the deceased are demanding strict action against the accused.

Hospital authorities have yet to issue a formal statement regarding the matter.

Police are currently reviewing the CCTV footage and recording statements from witnesses to determine the exact cause of the accident. Further details will be revealed as the investigation progresses.
