New Delhi, May 8: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday informed an all-party meeting in Parliament that at least 100 terrorists were killed during Indian military strikes conducted under Operation Sindoor, targeting terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Chaired by Singh, the high-level briefing was called to update leaders of major political parties on India’s military action following recent terror attacks. Singh described Operation Sindoor as an “ongoing operation” and clarified that a detailed presentation could not be shared at this point due to operational sensitivity.

The strikes were carried out at nine locations inside Pakistani territory and PoK, in what Singh termed a decisive response to continued cross-border terrorism. “India does not seek escalation, but if provoked, we will not hesitate to act,” Singh told party leaders, underlining the government’s firm stance on national security.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, who was also present, said the meeting reflected bipartisan support for the government’s efforts. “All leaders offered their suggestions and expressed maturity. This is not a time for politics but for unity,” he stated. Rijiju quoted the Defence Minister as saying, “We don’t do politics only for forming governments, but for building the nation.”

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, also attended the meeting. Gandhi reiterated the Congress party’s support for the government but expressed disappointment that Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not attend the session. “It would have been more reassuring if the PM had joined and agreed to a special Parliament session as requested,” Gandhi said.

The government continues to maintain vigilance along the borders while emphasizing national unity during this critical time.
