Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals Live Updates, IPL 2025: Match Called Off Midway Due to Lighting Issue at HPCA Stadium

Dharamsala, May 8 – The IPL 2025 clash between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium was officially called off following an unexpected floodlight failure. The incident occurred after 10 overs of play, forcing officials to halt the live action amid growing concerns over player safety and visibility.

Earlier in the day, PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bat first against Axar Patel-led Delhi Capitals. A victory for Punjab would have confirmed their spot in the playoffs, with the team currently holding 15 points from 11 matches. Delhi Capitals, meanwhile, sit just behind with 13 points from an equal number of games.

The game had already seen a delayed start due to intermittent rain in Dharamsala. However, it was the sudden malfunction of stadium lighting that ultimately led to the abandonment. The abrupt disruption occurred during Punjab’s innings, sparking confusion among players and fans alike.

Adding to the drama, this match was initially scheduled to be held in Ahmedabad but was shifted back to Dharamsala amid diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan, raising further speculation around the venue change and preparedness.
